This one is in a rehabilitative compound up in Washington state at a place called North West Trek. It's really a pretty cool place. They rehabilitate (obviously) injured animals for re-release into the wild or adopt and take care of ones that can't be released again and they have a great variety of animals to enjoy and photograph.

I'm sorry you never got the chance to. :( I'm certain you would have enjoyed it. :D It's in a town called Eatonville. Don't know where you were, but maybe you've heard of it?

It's a very very small rural community. They have an old abandoned railroad train and they've made a really quaint little diner in one of the cars. Probably your kind of town. :D
