You're on your belly now...inching through the brush. Straining to not even breathe for fear of giving your position away. You can hear the soft lapping of the cat...so close, getting a cool drink at the waterhole. You're trembling with excitement...a cool sweat beading on your forehead. The sun is hot on your back as you reach out to part the grasses and there he is! He hasn't noticed you yet. You push forward just a hair farther to get your camera lens into the clear for a shot when you hear the twig break under your weight and in an instant, his head comes up and he's staring right at you, not more than 10 feet away...water still dripping from his chin!

You freeze...he freezes and for a moment the two of you are connected in a way most people will never know. That moment seems to stretch into an eternity and the world goes into slow motion as you lower your eye to the viewfinder and in the telephoto, he seems near enough for you to feel his breath. You know what will happen next, as the shutter snicks and in the same instant, he is gone...but you got the shot!
