Serengeti Solo by LoneWolfPhotography Serengeti Solo by LoneWolfPhotography
One of the Oregon Zoo's lionesses climbs up on her "stage" and appears to be belting out a song for all the animals to enjoy. Or maybe she's just trying to imitate the roar of the King himself?

Oh yeh! Then I could get her sister and one other, teach them some of those backup singer dance moves and then Zawadi could be the lead singer! :D

That could work!!! Though you better pamper, cater, and pay them well or you might be on the wrong end of their diva tempers. Actually that would be quite amusing to see a lion have a temper tantrum. :giggle:

Looks like an award winning yawn to me. But maybe that's because it is approaching 11pm.
I agree with Rose, though. Your timing is amazing.

Thank you very much Michelle. Yeh, it's really just a yawn, but you know how I like to make up stories about some of my shots. :giggle: Don't think I've ever heard a lioness roar before, have you?

I'm told that they do, in fact, roar but I've never heard it. I will continue with my little stories, and on your and other's suggestions, I am really starting to think about writing short stories and using some of my images for illustrations. What do you think?

Oh, and though I hesitate to ask here, let me ask, has your mail arrived? :blushes:

I am so glad to hear that you are thinking about writing stories!!!
I do hope you will share.

You know we've moved, right? We still have the old PO Box for a few weeks. I don;t think I went there last week, but I will make sure to drop by there on Monday. Was thinking I should anyway.

i know what you mean!
felines,are a 'little' lazy creatures,though!
they hunt, eat and then they must rest to gain their lost
energy back!they need a 18-20 hours,sleep, per day!
of course this is not too much time,if we consider, how much energy, they consume, during huntings!
of course ,you know that, better than me!!!
i wish,i could see Serengeti,once,in my life,too!or Massai Mara!

It would be cool if the zoo lions actually would roar like this now and then, and not only yawn :D.

The picture looks great :)

:blushes: Yeh, you caught me. I made up the bit about roaring of course and she is only yawning, but thinking of it as a roar is, of course, much more entertaining than yawning. I wasn't really trying to make anyone believe she was roaring, I just like to make up stories depending on how a shot turns out. I agree, it would be cool. I'm not sure lionesses even do roar, do they? I'm still hoping that sooner or later, Zawadi will. :fingerscrossed:

No problem at all. I really would like if they would roar. And if they will never in real, I do not mind thinking of they might only when I'm not there :giggle:.
I was once behind the scenes when the lions where fed when I worked at a zoo. The lions where very angry that I (an unknown intruder) was there, so close to their food. You know, I might steel it from them :D - And yes, they can make ear ringing loud roars! :D

But they didn't look as majestic as your lioness on the trunk, when they showed my their anger :]

I envy you! :D That's an experience I would like to have at least once...to work behind the scenes with the animals. You're very lucky. :D Thank you so much for such a great compliment.

I really was something which makes me happy each time I think about it.

It was on my second day there. When I came they told me I'll work in the goat-area. And I was like D:!!! But will I have a chance to work at the lions, too some day?? And the zookeper answered irritated: Well, they are in the goat area! - like it had been obvious ^^

It was not easy to find a zoo in Germany which accepted anyone but pupil to work there for several weeks. I actually do not know why students are not welcome.
