I have many wolf statues, some small, some large. Some are pretty good quality and some are not but I still like them all. I got bored on this day and wondered what it would look like if I set them outside and photographed them as if they were the real thing.
This will be the first posting in this series.
This is one of my medium sized statues, only about 6" high at his nose and stands on a base of rock and moss. I set him up in the grass of my yard under a maple tree that produced dappled sunlight underneath, and while setting up the shot, I noticed that with shallow depth of field, the spots of sunlight became blurred and sort of resembled little spots of fire. So I carefully chose his position amidst them to look like he was ringed in by a small forest fire. I imagine he is howling out his fear or trying to find the missing members of his pack.

You're very welcome Jo, but it isn't enough. It may seem like I forget sometimes, but I don't forget ANY of your kindnesses and I will continue to respect you greatly!
At first glance, I thought this was a real wolf. He is very life-like and I can't say what makes him look as if he is a statue, but upon closer inspection, one can see that he isn't a real live wolf.
I do think the way you used the sunlight and made it appear as if it were a fire closing him in, is a very inventive and creative idea.
I have no idea regarding the technical aspects of professional photography. I am a point and click kind of girl, and I just know what I like.
This is just an idea but have you considered doing any post-work on this photo? It would change your gallery designation, since it would be a manipulation, but I think if you were to add a smoke or fog filter, this would look a bit more realistic, and one expects to see smoke with fire. it would, to a small degree hide the fact that he is a statue.
We will know what to offer you as a gift...
Thanks again for you kind comment!

As it is, it is a clever photo.
