An Amur Tiger seems to be playing hide and seek behind the merest of cover, peeking out through the slender leaves of a fern.

Taken at the Oregon Zoo on this tiger and his sister's birthday party.

Look at him ! the other day sweetie i watched the programme about when the tiger escaped from san fancisco zoo it was madness she jumped the wall it was on xmas day. Do you know this its the only time a tiger has ever escaped ..... it also said how many people keep tigers as pets it shouldnt be allowed but thats my opinion it just makes me sad. yeah if they have the right facilities but tigers & lions as pets ! we have some great animal parks in the uk too do you know howlets & port lymphe ive took my boys there 3 times ! The tigers theyre are so spoilt ! They have big slides & swimming pools etc . When i was little i used to think zoos were bad but as ive grown up i realise now how well they are looked after & they ae spoilt & dont need to hunt so they can sleep all day ! lol your work is wonderful its a pleasure to look at :glomp:

:D I didn't see that program or for that matter, even know that one escaped, but I bet that's why they revamped the Tiger's viewing areas at our zoo too. Guess they figured if one tiger could do it, others could too. I agree completely, people should not be able to keep tigers or any big cats as pets unless they're licensed and it's for some cause like conservation or rehabilitation or something. Normal people are not equipped to handle these cats once they get past the "cute" stage. Not familiar with the zoo you're referring too, but the way it sounds, I'd really love to see it. I'll bet the photo ops there are never-ending! :D

Thank you so much for your compliments.

Your photo reminded me of the time when I hunkered down behind a very tiny scraggly weed that was standing all by itself in an equally tiny clearing as a small herd of elk approached. They proceeded to get close enough for me to see the eyelashes of a calf who stared at me and my weed but who couldn't separate me from my little piece of camouflage. After a time when I couldn't stay squatted down there any longer and raised up, the whole herd took off like a mountain lion had suddenly appeared! With the tiger's wonderful striped pattern that already breaks up his silhouette, that little piece of branch might be just that little extra touch that would allow him to creep up on a prey animal. :)

Nice catch no matter what the tiger had in mind!
