Very pretty wolf! Why do you say in her last days?

Sorry so late Judy. :( I made the statement about this being from her last days because, unfortunately, she died during a surgical procedure shortly after this photo was taken. :tears: Actually, all 3 of the wolves that the zoo had at the time, died in a fairly short period of time. They have since been replaced with 2 new wolves, Cheyenne and Yazhi.

Hmmm, you know, when I took this shot, I was thinking the stick was kind of neat...it almost looked like she was looking through the open part of it and that it kind of framed her face. Sorry that takes away from the photo for you. :(

I'd like to say you shouldn't hate them but I can't. It's in our natures to have different emotions evoked by the wolf. Historically, down through the ages, most people have developed and instinctual fear of the wolf, one that defies logic or reason. Others have learned to love, respect and even revere him. There is something about the wildness in a wolf that takes our inner selves back to the days of the caveman and stirs our own animal instincts to fight or flee. To me, this just adds to the mystery and aura of the wolf and makes me love them even more.

Don't get me wrong, if I was lost in wolf country, and it was beginning to get dark and I suddenly became aware of their shapes flitting through the trees around me, heard the soft crunching of their steps in the crusted snow and low growls, my hairs would be on end too! I'd probably have the feeling of fear reawakened in me as well. But even if they ate me, I couldn't hate them. They'd just be doing what wolves do, there would be nothing personal in it. Just my take on it. :D
